Freshman Amy Thompson had two first places finishes

OAKLEY, Kan. - For the second consecutive week, the West Texas A&M equestrian team won both its shows. For the weekend, WTAMU had nine first place riders, including two high point participants in its first Western Show of the year.

Freshman Amy Thompson was the first place rider on the Open Rail, while sophomore Whitney Fouts was first in the Advanced show. The Lady Buffs took home the top four riders in Advanced on Saturday.

In the last two events on Saturday, junior Kristine Thompson came in first place on the Intermediate event and freshman Katherine Sorenson was first in the Beginner.

On Sunday, the Lady Buffs were led by junior Whitney Agee, who was first place in the Reining event. Placing third was Amy Thompson, while sophomore Shannon Lee finished fourth.

Amy Thompson also was also first in Open Rail, and junior Courtney Douglas took home the top prize in Advanced. In the final Novice event sophomore Stefanie Gilbert was the top rider. The final top rider for WTAMU was Kristine Thompson, who won Intermediate for the second day in a row.

The next show for WTAMU will be on Nov. 11 and 12th at Laramie County Community College (Wyo.) for two Western Shows.
