Equestrian Rides to Nationals with a Second Place Finish in Semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - With a second place finish at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Western semifinals on Saturday, the West Texas A&M equestrian team will advance to the national championship event on May 3 in Springfield, Mass. The Lady Buffs were just two points from winning the event, falling to host school Middle Tennessee State, 28-27. In the team show, WTAMU had two individual standouts, as Whitney Agee and Rebecca Hart took home top honors. Agee placed first in the Open Reining Show, while Hart was the Intermediate Horsemanship champion. The top four riders in the individual shows advanced to nationals, headlining the events for WTAMU was Shannon Lee and Kristine Thompson. Lee finished third in Advanced Horsemanship and Thompson was a fourth place rider in Intermediate Horsemanship. The next event for the Lady Buffs will be Saturday at the WTAMU Horse Center. Start time for the show will be at 9 a.m.
