The WTAMU equestrian team hosted two Western shows this past weekend and after a tough showdown with New Mexico State University, the Lady Buff riders won the first show and got second in the other Saturday at the WTAMU Horse Center. With the two high finishes, the equestrian team is second in their region by just two points.

At the end of the day, eleven of the WTAMU riders came away with a first place win. Sophomore advanced riders, Krissy Mailman and Cara Scogin, earned their points this weekend for the regional show. Shannon Lee, sophomore advanced rider won her class, along with open rider Amy Thompson, who won her reining and rail class. Intermediate riders Kristine Thompson and Stephanie James each won their rail class as well.

The WTAMU equestrian team will continue this success on the road when they travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for two more Western shows Feb. 25-26, which will be their last chance to claim the number the one position in their region for the western discipline and an automatic spot at Nationals as a team.
