Lady Buff's Brister Grabs Lone Star Conference Weekly Honor

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M junior guard Emily Brister has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Week after receiving all-tournament honors this past weekend in Chico State's Coslet Classic. Despite the Lady Buffs falling to both Sonoma State and Chico State, Brister lead the team in points and rebounds. Brister, selected as the Preseason Player of the Year by both the LSC and the Women's Division II Bulletin, led West Texas A&M by shooting 52.8% from the floor, 46.2% from behind the arc and 75% from the free throw line. Her 53 points were the most scored by any Lady Buff and she also dished out three assists. Additionally, Brister led the defensive drive as she grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds (four defensive, eight offensive, 6.0 average) and had two blocks and five steals. The Lady Buffs are back in action this weekend as they host the Buffalo Thanksgiving Classic at the First United Bank Center. Tournament action kicks off Friday at 2 p.m. with Angelo State against Harding University, then the Lady Buffs hit the court at 6 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands. On Saturday, Angelo State faces New Mexico Highlands at 2 p.m. followed by the conclusion of the tournament featuring the Lady Buffs against the Harding Lady Bisons at 6 p.m.
