CANYON, Texas - Sophomore guard Emily Brister has been selected First Team All-America by Daktronics, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Brister was also named honorable mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Wednesday, March 21.

A native of Amarillo, Texas, Brister was additionally named the 2006-07 Daktronics South Central Region Player of the Year. The sophomore was selected as the Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Year for the second straight season. On her way to being named first team all-conference, Brister averaged 22.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Brister led the LSC in scoring, was sixth in free throw percentage (.840) and second in steals (97). Brister was named to the LSC All-Tournament Team and was an Academic All-District VI First Team selection by CoSIDA/ESPN Magazine. She was chosen for the LSC All-Academic Team and was the LSC South Division Academic Player of the Year. She is currently seventh on the school's all-time scoring list after just two seasons, recording 1,431 points, and is in first with 22.8 points per game. Brister scored 30-plus points four times this season and recorded three double-doubles.

Joining Brister on the Daktronics All-America first team is Erica Quigley of St. Cloud State, who was the top vote getter, along with Leora Juster (UC San Diego), Rachel Redick (Glenville State) and Darcie Schmidt (Lewis).

Another Daktronics All-American from the LSC is Kanani Marshal from Texas A&M-Commerce, who was picked as a third team selection.
