Brister Tabbed Honorable Mention All-American by WBCA
March 21, 2007 CANYON, Texas - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Eastman Kodak Company announced on Wednesday the 2007 NCAA Division II Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team. Taking home honorable mention honors was West Texas A&M sophomore guard Emily Brister, who led the Lone Star Conference in scoring, averaging 22.9 points per game. Brister was also in the top half of the conference in field goal percentage (.475), assists (2.70), free throw percentage (.850), steals (97), 3-point field goal percentage (.433), 3-point field goals made (84) and blocked shots per game (.64). The Amarillo, Texas, native also helped guide the Lady Buffs to a NCAA South Central Regional Tournament semifinal appearance for the second time in as many seasons. In the tournament, Brister averaged 22 points a game and connected on 15 straight free throws. Additionally, the sophomore guard is the only women's basketball student-athlete from the LSC to be selected All-America. This year's team marks the 25th year of the Division II Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team, which began in 1983. Selection committees in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions select ten of the top women's basketball players in the nation to be honored.
