Three Lady Buffs Earn All-LSC Awards

West Texas A&M University women's basketball team members Celeste Stevenson, Carlee Howard and Vasha Adams received All-Lone Star Conference accolades announced today (March 8) by the conference office.
Stevenson, a 5-10 junior forward from Abilene, Texas, received All-LSC honors for the third-straight season, after earning second-team honors as a freshman and first-team honors last season. Stevenson leads WTAMU and is sixth in the conference with 17.0 ppg and adds 7.2 rpg, which ranks 11th in the league. Stevenson also ranks 11th in the LSC in field goal pct. (.490), as well as 14th in free throw pct. (.779) and 15th in blocked shots (20, 0.69 bpg). Stevenson has logged five double-doubles on the season.
Adams, a 6-1 junior forward from Georgetown, West Indies, adds 10.7 ppg to go with a team-leading 7.3 rpg, ranking 11th in the LSC. Adams leads the conference and is 33rd in the nation in steals (98, 3.38 spg), which is fourth on WTAMU's single-season steals average list. Adams also ranks fifth in blocked shots (37, 1.28 bpg) and is 15th in field goal pct. (.491). Adams has registered a team-high six double-doubles on the year.
Natalja Tsurbakova of LSC Champion Angelo State University, was voted as LSC South Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Eastern New Mexico University's Heather Brown was voted as Freshman of the Year, while Hazel Woods of Texas A&M University-Commerce was tabbed as Newcomer of the Year. Eastern New Mexico head coach Dan Buzzard was voted as LSC South Coach of the Year.
WTAMU is currently 24-5 overall after finishing LSC South play with an 11-3 mark, winning the LSC South division. The Lady Buffs, ranked No. 22 in the WBCA Top 25 Poll, are the sixth-seed in this weekend's NCAA-II South Central Regional Tournament hosted by Drury University at Springfield, Mo.
