CANYON, Texas - The Lone Star Conference announced its women's basketball postseason awards on Tuesday, as voted on by the coaches of the South Division. Leading the way for West Texas A&M was sophomore guard Emily Brister, who was named first team All-LSC and South Division Player of the Year, while first year head Kirsta Gerlich was named Coach of the Year in the South Division.

Brister led the league in scoring for the second consecutive season, as she averaged 22.6 points per game. The Amarillo, Texas, native was also 13th in the league in field goal percentage, 15th in assists, sixth in free throw percentage and second in steals.

Senior guard Natalie Wheeler was named All-LSC Second Team after chipping in 9.5 points per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field, which was good for 10th in the conference. The Lady Buffs also had three honorable mention athletes, as senior's Kara Pridey and Jennifer Brock, along with sophomore Courtney Lee, were named to the team.

Pridey was 15th in the LSC in rebounds, after pulling down 5.7 per game, while Brock led the league in assists and was third in assists to turnover ratio. Lee meanwhile, was second on the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points and was sixth in LSC in field goal percentage.

Rounding out the postseason awards for WTAMU was Coach Gerlich, who helped guide the Lady Buffs to a 25-3 overall mark and perfect 14-0 record in the LSC South. It was the first time since the 1990-91 season WTAMU had a unblemished record in the LSC South Division.

The Lady Buffs will be back in action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against East Central in the First United Bank for the first round of the conference tournament.
