The West Texas A&M University women's basketball team, winners of three-straight and seven of last eight, will try to maintain its perch atop the Lone Star Conference South Division when the Lady Buffs host the two teams that are right below them this weekend. The Lady Buffs welcome traditional rivals Angelo State University and Abilene Christian University to the WTAMU Event Center this weekend for a pair of divisional showdowns with first-place in the division at stake.
WTAMU head coach Bob Schneider will be going for his 600th collegiate coaching win, as he currently has a 599-193 (.756) record in his 27 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
Both Thursday and Saturday follow the same timeline, with the women's tilt slated for 6 p.m., followed by the men's clash at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, WTAMU women's basketball will retire the numbers of two former Lady Buffs during a ceremony between the women's and men's gam. Pat McDonald, a two-time, first-team Kodak All-American during the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons, will have her #52 retired, while Natasha Taylor Stewart, a Lady Buff from 1993-97 and an honorable mention All-American, will have her #32 retired.
