Lady Buffs No. 1 In First NCAA Regional Rankings

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M grabs the top spot in the NCAA South Central Regional rankings, released by the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee. The top 10 teams were listed with the Lady Buffs holding first place with an overall record of 19-2 and an in-region record of 16-2.

 

Sis Lone Star Conference teams are represented in the top 10. Holding the third spot is Northeastern State (13-3 in region), followed by Southeastern Oklahoma (11-5) in fifth, and Tarleton (13-3) in sixth. Abilene Christian (12-6) takes the ninth spot, followed by Central Oklahoma (9-5) holding the tenth position.


Emporia State (12-1) follows WT in second place. Washburn (11-3), Fort Hays (10-4), and St. Mary’s (13-5) round out the rankings in the fourth, seventh, and eight spots, respectively.

The rankings will be released every Wednesday throughout the season with the final selections taking place on March 7, 2010.
