CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M women's basketball guard Emily Brister was named Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Week. This is the first Player of the Week award for the Lady Buffs this season.

Last week Brister averaged 20.5 points per game, while also earning her second double-double of the season. During Wednesday's come from behind win over Angelo State, Brister scored 16 points and tied for a team-high seven rebounds.

In Saturday's contest against Abilene, the Amarillo, Texas, native scored a game-high 25 points and tied for a team best 10 rebounds. Brister also helped lead a Lady Buff defense that forced 29 turnovers, while creating a game-high three steals.

WTAMU will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Tarleton State for a 6 p.m. tip-off at the First United Bank Center. The Lady Buffs will be on the road Saturday at Midwestern State for another 6 p.m. start.
