Lady Buffs Overtake Fort Lewis, 62-60, Monday At Western New Mexico Tourney

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The West Texas A&M University women's basketball team edged Fort Lewis College, 62-60, Monday at the Western New Mexico University Mustang Classic, at South Mountain Community College at Phoenix, Ariz.
It was Fort Lewis' first loss of the season, as the Skyhawks are now 8-1, while the Lady Buffs improved to 6-2 on the young season.
Junior forward Celeste Stevenson led WTAMU with 25 points, followed by fellow junior forward Vasha Adams with 12 points. Senior guard Carlee Howard with nine points, including a huge 3-pointer with two minutes left in the game and six seconds left on the shot clock to give the Lady Buffs the lead for the final time.
WTAMU wraps up the tournament on Tuesday, taking on Millersville University, at 5 p.m. Central Time. MU is 5-4 on the year, after defeating the host team Western New Mexico Monday evening, 43-41. Fans can tune into Tuesday's game on the Buffalo Sports Network on KGNC 710 AM.
The Lady Buffs return to the WTAMU Event Center for a pair of Lone Star Conference crossover games, opening with East Central University on Jan. 3 and taking on Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Jan. 5.
