Lady Buffs Basketball Come Together To Overwhelm the Fighting Scots of Edinboro

The West Texas A&M University woman's basketball team won it's second game of the Dr.Pepper Thanksgiving Classic over Edinboro, 92-74, today (Saturday) at the Event Center in Cayon.
Right from the beginning of the game, the Lady Buffs dominated the court never giving up the lead to the Fighting Scots of Edinboro. In the first half of play, WTAMU and Edinboro were matched fairly evenly until the second half when the Lady Buffs showed a lot of character by pulling ahead of the Fighting Scots and never looking back. In the second half, WTAMU shot 70% from the field while Edinboro only shot 20 %.
The Lady Buffs had their biggest lead of 47 points, at the 19th minute mark of the second half sealing the victory for WTAMU.
Junior forward Celeste Stevenson again led the Lady Buffs in points, 23, 9 of 10 from the line and 7 of 15 from the field. Teammate sophomore forward Keisha Monroe added 14 points, 6 of 7 from the field and five rebounds. Leading the team in rebounds for a second consecutive night was junior forward Vasha Adams totaling 11.
Ediniboro's leading scorer was Jodi Calderone who shot 2 of 12 from the field, drained 7 of 8 free throws for a total of 13 points.
Following the conclusion of the Lady Buffs victory, the Dr.Pepper Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament team was announced naming WTAMU's Adams, Carlee Howard and tournament MVP Stevenson. All named to the team was Edinboro's Jodi Calderone, Eastern New Mexico's Elizabeth Edwards, Emporia State's Nicole Patry and Casey Henningsen.
The Lady Buffs improve their record to 3-1 overall and resume action December 4th, at Talhequah, Okla., at 6 p.m.
