Stevenson Dominates in Lady Buffs 75-54 Victory Over Eastern New Mexico

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M University women's basketball team was victorious in Friday night's home opener against Eastern New Mexico, 75-54, in the Dr. Pepper Thanksgiving Classic.
The Lady Buffs controlled the game from the opening tip-off as they outscored the Zias 43-20 in the first half. Second half action was a lot tigher competition as Eastern New Mexico fought back and outscored WTAMU 34-32. In the end, it was WTAMU's shooting that proved to be the difference. WTAMU posted 27 of 62 from the field while ENMU tallied 16 of 53. The Lady Buffs drained 7 of 18 three-pointers and 45 rebounds.
Dominating the floor was the Lady Buffs' junior forward Celeste Stevenson with a game and season-high 25 points. In addition, Stevenson went 10 of 17 from the field, a perfect five-for-five in free throws and five rebounds. Teammate junior forward Tywanda Harris added 14 points, six points from the field and six rebounds. Junior forward Vasha Adams led the Lady Buffs in rebounds with seven, as WTAMU out rebounded ENMU 45-36.
ENMU was led by Jereena Bosket with four points from the field, nine rebounds and hit seven free throws for a team-high of 15 points.
WTAMU will take on Edinboro Saturday at 6 p.m. Edinboro is 3-1 on the year, after lossing to Emporia State 86-58, in Friday's action.
