CANYON, Texas - Fueled by the first double-double of sophomore guard Courtney Lee's collegiate career, No. 7 West Texas A&M downed visiting Midwestern State, 43-29, during the team's regular season finale on Saturday at the First United Bank Center to complete an undefeated run through the Lone Star Conference South Division.

WTAMU completes the regular season and enters postseason play with a 24-3 overall record while also finishing with a perfect 14-0 mark in LSC South affairs. In addition, the victory improves WATMU's season-high winning streak to 12 straight games and increases its streak of domination on its home court, where the team has not lost in its last 33 contests dating back to the 2004-05 season. Midwestern State, meanwhile, falls to 12-14 on the year and 5-9 in conference action.

Playing with a lot of emotion on Senior Night, it was the Lady Buffs who exploded out of the games during the game's early goings. WTAMU outscored the Mustangs, 11-0, to open the game, holding MSU, who misfired in its first eight shots of the period, scoreless until the 14:42 mark of the first half.

The intensity by the Buffs would not last, however, as the Mustangs survived the initial WTAMU run and climbed their way back into the game, using a 22-11 run over the next eight minutes to knot the score at 22-22. The run served as a wake up call for the Lady Buffs as they retaliated with an 8-2 run of their own, spurring them to outscore the Mustangs, 21-7, the rest of the way to end the period with a 43-29 halftime advantage.

WTAMU's Lee was a force in the game's opening 20 minutes, colleting the first double-double of her WTAMU career with 11 points and 10 rebounds in only one half of play. The sophomore from Arlington, Texas, native finished with a team-high 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The second half started much in same way as the first with the Lady Buffs on a run, as WTAMU opened the half with a 10-1 run to open a 53-30 lead. The lead would swell to as many as 26 as WTAMU was able to assert its will during the period to secure the victory, as the Buffs outscored the visitors 30-26 during the period and held a 24-11 advantage in the rebounding column.

Alicia Saunders finished the game with six points and eight rebounds, including seven during the second half. WTAMU leading scorer Emily Brister was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe contributed 14 points.

Prior to the game, Lady Buff seniors Jennifer Brock, Kara Pridey, Saunders and Natalie Wheeler were honored on senior day for their accomplishments during their WTAMU careers.

WTAMU will now enter postseason play during the upcoming week and host a first round Lone Star Conference tournament game at the First United Bank Center on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
