The West Texas A&M University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams continue their 2005 campaign this weekend when they travel to Abilene, Texas to participate in the Abilene Christian University opener Friday, September 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Buff harriers look to junior Amy Garcia who finished last weekend's Buffalo Stampede race in fifth place, completing the five kilometer run in 21:02 for an average mile of 7:24.3, to lead them in this weekend's contest. Junior Ruby Crox finished seventh with an overall time of 21:17 and is also expected to make a contribution in the team's run at Abilene.

The men's team ran only two harriers in last weekend's Buffalo Stampede. Victor Duran finished 19th of 24 runners with a final time of 25:58 in the four mile pursuit. Ryne Erickson finished just behind his teammate in 21st position, completing the race in 27:52.

The two teams will have a week off between races, competing again on Saturday, September 24 at the New Mexico Highlands Invitational. Race time is 10:30 a.m.
