The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team takes eighth spot in the men's LSC Championship held in Durant, Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. Freshman Zach Valdez took top honors for the Buffs with a 28:11 time to finish in 37th out of 52 runners.

Buff runners fought hard and finished close behind lead runner Valdez. Senior Lito Belmontes finished 46th with a time of 29:57, freshman Ivan Alvarez came in 48th at 30:24, and senior Ben Muniz in 50th at 32:05.

Abilene Christian's Martin Okello won the race with a 24:14 time and helped give the Wildcats first place in the team competition.

This ends the Buffs 2004 cross country season.
