WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team finished eighth-place at the Lone Star Conference Championships at Weatherford, Okla., hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Prairie West Golf Course.

WTAMU had 223 points, just edging out Cameron University with 224 points. Abilene Chrisitan University won its 15th consecutive LSC title, collecting the top four spots and finishing with 28 points.

Freshman Jose Velasquez was the Buffs' top finisher, placing 31st after covering the 8K course in 28:52.

Junior Victor Duran was 37th with a 29:15, while freshman Billy Emert was 55th with an even 32:00. Junior Ryne Erickson was 58th with a 32:48 and freshman Daniel Loya was 63rd with a 36:33.

The men will wrap up their season on Nov. 5 with the NCAA-II Southwest Regional meet at Abilene, Texas.
