Results

San Angelo, Texas - Jose Velazquez (senior, Hereford, Texas) led the Buffs with a 13th place finish at the Angelo State Blue & Gold Classic, held Tuesday afternoon at the San Angelo Regional Airport in San Angelo, Texas.

Competing over a five-mile course, Velazquez recorded a time of 27:31.00. He was followed by Thomas Harris (sophomore, Amarillo, Texas), 20th, 28:00.00; Isai Saucedo (soph., Bovina, Texas), 32nd, 29:19.00; Jarret Kachel (junior, Hooker, Okla.), 35th, 29:52.00 and Matt Kopansky (fresh., Toronto, Ont.), 37th, 29:58.00.

Also competing for WT but not scoring were Erik Huerta (soph., Hereford, Texas), 39th, 30:15.00; Jarred Murray (fresh., Odessa, Texas), 49th, 30:43.00; Jose Maldonado (fresh., Hereford, Texas), 63rd, 31:11.00 and Luis Flores (soph., Booker, Texas), 65th, 31:49.00.

The men's division was won by South Plains College's Fred Samoei with a time of 25:08.00.

In the team standings, the Buffs placed sixth in the eight team field.

The Buffs will now look forward to the Lone Star Conference Championships, hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville, on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Kingsville, Texas.
