The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team was in Stillwater, Oklahoma this past weekend to compete at the 95th annual Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, and WTAMU finished in 19th-place in the College Division.

The Cowboy Jamboree is the oldest running cross country meet in the country.

The Buffs were led by freshman Zach Valdez, who finished the eight kilometer race in 28:35, which placed him 90th out of 187 runners. Also finishing strong were freshman Carmelo Morales, whose 28:40 earned him 95th position and the Buffs' number one runner, senior Lito Belmontes who placed 121st in a time of 29:20.

The teams will be off this weekend, but will host the Buffalo Stampede High School Invitational in Canyon, Texas on Saturday, October 9. Start times are to be determined. The women will return to action on Tuesday, October 12 for the Angelo State Invitational at San Angelo Texas. They will race at 5:10 p.m. The men are off until the Lone Star Conference Championships on Oct. 23.
