Trio of Buffs Named to Daktronics All-American Team

CANYON, Texas - Three members of the West Texas A&M men's soccer team have been named to the Daktronics All-America Teams announced on Wednesday morning. Defender Nicki Nielsen was honored with a spot on the first team while teammates Ben Everson and Jacob Fynboe Jensen were named honorable mention.
The Buffs finished the season #3 in the NSCAA final regular season national poll and advanced to the South Central Region Championship before falling to top-ranked Fort Lewis, 3-1, on Nov. 15. WT finished the season with a 15-2-2 record and a share of the Lone Star Conference Championship with rival Midwestern State. Nielsen, a Oelholm, Denmark native, was a key member of the Buffs defense during his second season in Canyon. WT allowed just 10 goals and pitching 12 shutouts. Nielsen was named a captain of the Buffs as a sophomore this season. Everson led the team in most offensive categories, including goals (15), total points (31), and game-winners (4). This is not Everson's first postseason award, as he has also been named the LSC Offensive Player of the Year as well as the South Central Region Offensive Player of the Year. Jensen continued leadership for the Buffs this season as a senior midfielder, he tallied two goals and added four assists for a total of eight points. Jensen's 34 career assists is tops in both the WT record books along with in the Lone Star Conference.
