Nov. 9, 2009
CANYON, Texas - The #4 West Texas A&M men's soccer team is headed to Durango, Colorado, to take part in the NCAA DII South Central Region Tournament, held this weekend on the campus of Fort Lewis College. The #4 Buffs (14-1-2) and rival #9 Mustangs of Midwestern State (12-1-3) will square-off on Friday, Nov. 13, at 11:00 a.m. MT. to see who advances to the Regional Championship. In the other half of the bracket, host Fort Lewis (19-1-0) takes on Colorado School of Mines (15-2-4). WT and MSU have faced-off twice this season, with both games ending in ties. The Buffs and Mustangs shared the Lone Star Conference Championship after both posted a 4-0-2 conference record. "Our guys have really had being the top team in the region as their goal all season, we've used the disappointment to not getting in last season to our advantage." said WT head coach Butch Lauffer "Fort Lewis is a great soccer environment, and playing a team like Midwestern that we've tied twice this season is set to be a showdown once again."
