Buffs and Lady Buffs Sit Atop South Central Region

CANYON, TEXAS – Both the Buffs and Lady Buffs are listed atop their respective Division II South Central Regional rankings according to the new poll released by the National Soccer Coach’s Association of America (NSCAA) Tuesday afternoon. Buffs – The Buffs continue to lead the South Central region for another week in a row with a record of 12-1-2, 2-0-2 LSC, after defeating Incarnate Word, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 23 and entering into double overtime to tie #11 Midwestern State on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Buffs are now listed in the number five position nationally after this weekend’s matches. The highest the Buffs have ever reached in the NSCAA national rankings was fourth in 2001, when they competed in to the NCAA Elite Eight. NSCAA South Region Division II Men’s Rankings – 1. West Texas A&M, 2. Midwestern State, 3. Truman State, 4. Eastern New Mexico, 5. Northeastern State, 6. Incarnate Word. Up next, the Buffs travel to Portales, NM on Oct. 28 to face the Eastern New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action. Game time is set for 4 p.m. CDT. Lady Buffs – The Lady Buffs have taken the top spot in the women’s South Central regional rankings with a record of 11-2-2, 4-2-1 LSC, after defeating Angelo State, 4-1, at home Friday, Oct. 23 and ending in a tie against Abilene Christian, 0-0, in double overtime on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Lady Buffs have also cracked the top ten to take the ninth position in the NSCAA National Rankings. The Lady Buffs were previously 19th, but moved up to the ninth position in the standings after this weekend’s matches. NSCAA South Region Division II Women’s Rankings – 1. West Texas A&M, 2.
