CANYON, Texas - Senior captain Kenneth Christensen, the Southwest Soccer Conference's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year selection, earned SSC Defensive Player of the Week accolades this week as he helped West Texas A&M pick up two conference wins. The Buffaloes beat Missouri Southern - for head coach Butch Lauffer's 200th career win - and Northeastern State, both by scores of 4-0.

Christensen stood strong in the backfield, as he has all season, helping to shutout the Buffs' opponents by holding them to just five combined shots on goal and three total corner kick opportunities over the men's last weekend at home.

WTAMU, currently ranked No. 2 in the Midwest Region by the NCAA, finishes their season on the road with matches against Texas A&M International on Oct. 28, St. Mary's on Oct. 30, and Midwestern State on Nov. 4. Midwestern State is currently ranked No. 1 in the region by the NCAA.
