CANYON, Texas - Senior forward René Gómez and freshman goalkeeper Shane Taylor have been recognized as this week's Southwest Soccer Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Gómez led West Texas A&M to a 2-0 weekend on the road that saw the Buffaloes beat both Northeastern State in Tahlehquah, Okla. - for the first time in four years - and Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. He scored WTAMU's only goal in the 1-0 victory over Missouri Southern and tallied an assist on the Buffaloes' second goal in the 2-1 win over Northeastern.

Taylor, the Keller, Texas native, tallied six saves (.857 save percentage), allowed only one goal and tallied one shutout over the weekend, playing every minute of both games.
