The West Texas A&M University men's soccer team will kick off the 2005 season on Tuesday at Portales, N.M., against border-rival Eastern New Mexico University. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. Central Time (4 p.m. Mountain Time).

WTAMU finished the 2004 season with a record of 11-7-2, finishing fourth in the SSC standings with an 8-5-1 conference ledger. The Buffs were tabbed fourth in the SSC Preseason Poll. All-American senior forward Josh Fender, the SSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, and junior midfielder Omar Morales are two of the five returning starters for the Buffs.

ENMU is 1-2-1 on the season, opening with a pair of road losses, before routing Colorado Christian College, 9-0, last Friday and then playing Colorado State University-Pueblo to a scoreless draw on Sunday. The Greyhounds were picked seventh in the SSC Preseason Poll.

WTAMU finished the 2004 season with a record of 11-7-2, finishing fourth in the SSC standings with an 8-5-1 conference ledger. Fender and junior midfielder Omar Morales are two of the five returning starters for the Buffs.

The Buffs' home opener is Sept. 9 at 3 p.m., when WTAMU hosts St. Mary's following the Lady Buffs' match vs. St. Mary's at Noon.
