WICHITA FALLS, Texas - In a Southwest Soccer Conference and Midwest Region showdown, junior Oliver Mulamba scored off a corner kick from sophomore Jacob Fynboe Jensen in the 41st minute as the West Texas A&M men's soccer team beat rival No. 7 Midwestern State, 1-0. With the win, the Buffs become SSC Co-Champions and share the title with MSU; WT finishes the regular season with an overall record of 16-2 and both teams complete SSC play with records of 7-1.

With 4:38 left in the first half, Jensen took a corner kick and sent the ball into the box from the left side. Mulamba drilled a shot to the far post from six yards out to pick up what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Midwestern State out-shot WTAMU by a 16-6 margin but freshman Shane Taylor was unbeatable in front of the net, making six saves and benefiting from a team save in the 71st minute.

Midwestern State is one of only two teams to beat WT this season, as the Mustangs picked up a 3-1 win over the Buffs on Sept. 21 at The Pitch, and one of only three teams to score more than one goal against West Texas A&M. The win Sunday avenged the previous match-up as Mulamba scored his third goal of the season and Jensen notched his team-leading eighth assist, his third corner kick assist in the last two matches.

The victory also put both Taylor and Jensen in WT's record books. Sunday's win marked Taylor's ninth shutout, tying him for fourth in career shutouts, and bumped his season save count to 56, placing him eighth in career saves. Jensen made his mark as he improved his total career assist tally to 16, tying for fourth in career assists.

Both teams' solid play in the Midwest Region throughout the season strengthens their cases for a spot in the upcoming NCAA Division II national tournament, which is slated to begin on either Nov. 8 or Nov. 9.
