#5 Buffs Drop Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds, 2-1

PORTALES, N.M. - The West Texas A&M men's soccer team travelled to Portales, NM this Wednesday to face LSC opponent Eastern New Mexico in another round of windy, rainy and cold conditions. After a rough start, the Buffs were able to score their two goals in the last 15 minutes of the match. The Buffaloes improve to 13-1-2, 3-0-2 LSC. The Buffs took seven shots during the first half of the match, but none would land in goal. In the 38th minute, Greyhound Emerson Rodrigues was able to launch a shot past goalkeeper Sebastian Furness (SO, Middlesbrough, England) off a through pass from teammate Edgar Bear. The half would end with the Greyhounds up 1-0. The Buffs would improve their offensive play as they took 12 shots in the second half, with two landing on goal. Nicki Nielsen (SO, Oelhlem, Denmark) scored the first goal for the Buffs off a penalty kick in the 75th minute. Aaron Thornton (SR, Pearl, Miss.) would secure the Buff win after launching the ball in goal off a pass from Abel Olivas (FR, Amarillo, Texas). The Buffs are set to travel to Tahlequah, Okla. on Sunday, Nov. 8 to face Northeastern State with kickoff set for 12 pm CST. With a win against the Northeastern State Riverhawks, the Buffs will clinch a share of the LSC Championship title.
