Buffs Clawed By Lions, 3-0, Sunday

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The West Texas A&M University men's soccer team had some bad news and good news Sunday afternoon, as the Buffs dropped a 3-0 contest at Missouri Southern State University, but remain in first place in the Southwest Soccer Conference. The loss was WTAMU's third in a row and sixth in the last eight matches, as the Buffs fall to 9-7 overall and 8-3 in SSC.
WTAMU remains in first place by one point, as Midwestern State University and University of Incarnate Word remain tied for second at the two played to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon and are both now 7-1-2 in SSC action.
The Buffs lost despite outshooting the Lions, 21-7, including 7-5 in shots on goal.
Freshman back-up goalkeeper Chad Perry made two saves, as he was filling in for starter freshman netminder Shawn Carr, who had to sit out Sunday's match after receiving a red card in WTAMU's 2-1 OT loss at Northeastern State University on Friday.
WTAMU will head to San Antonio next weekend, facing St. Mary's University on Friday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. before tangling with Incarnate Word on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
The Buffs wrap up the season on Nov. 5, hosting Eastern New Mexico University at 6 p.m. in the home finale.
