TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The West Texas A&M University men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss at Northeastern State University Friday afternoon at Tahlequah, Okla. It was WTAMU's second straight Southwest Soccer Conference loss, and drops the Buffs from their first-place perch in the SSC standings, as WTAMU is now 8-2 in SSC action, 9-6 overall.

NSU improves to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the SSC.

For the second match in a row, WTAMU had some drama at the end of the match, as NSU netted its game-winner in the first minute of overtime on a penalty kick by Ludinei Filho. After the goal, WTAMU freshmen goalkeeper Shawn Carr and forward Raul Rodriguez were assessed red cards. The duo will miss WTAMU's match Sunday at Missouri Southern State University at Joplin, Mo.

After a scoreless first half, Filho gave the Redmen a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal from 25 yards out in the 62nd minute.

WTAMU netted the equalizer in the 83rd minute on a goal from senior forward Josh Fender, off an assist from Rodriguez.

NSU outshot WTAMU, 13-11, for the match, as Carr made four saves.

After Sunday's match, WTAMU heads to San Antonio, Texas to face St. Mary's University and University of Incarnate Word on Friday, Oct. 28, and Sunday, Oct. 30, respectively.

The Buffs return home for their season-finale against border-rival Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday, Nov. 5 in a match that has been changed to a 6 p.m. start.
