Buffs Blanked By #5 Fort Lewis, 6-0, Sunday

DURANGO, Colo. -- The West Texas A&M University men's soccer team was blanked, 6-0, by No. 5 Fort Lewis College Sunday afternoon at Durango, Colo. It was the Buffs' third loss in the last four matches, all four in Colorado, as WTAMU falls to 8-4-0 on the year.
The match was delayed for 30 minutes at the start due to lightining and was officially called in the 82nd minute due to the weather.
Fort Lewis won its fifth match in a row, and improves to 10-0-1.
Freshman defender Nick Stevenson let WTAMU with three shots, two on goal, while freshman midfielder Tom Nutter had two shots, both on goal.
The Skyhawks were led by Cole Sweetser, ironically, a North Richland Hills, Texas native, who netted four goals and one assist.
Sweetster scored in the 4th, 39th, 61st and 59th minutes, the last on a penalty kick, and assisted on a goal in the 57th minute. FLC scored its other goal in the 36th minute.
The Skyhawks outshot the Buffs, 14-12, as FLC has seven of their shots on goal. WTAMU freshman goalkeeper Shawn Carr only made one save in the match, while his FLC counterpart, Nick Mark saved all seven of the Buffs' shots on goal, before giving way to Tom Donley in the 79th minute for the split shutout.
The Buffs return home to resume Southwest Soccer Conference action, putting their 7-0 conference record at stake on Friday, Oct. 14, when WTAMU hosts St. Edward's University at 1 p.m., and then traditional-rival Midwestern State University on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. Both matches are at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
