ABILENE, Texas - The West Texas A&M men's golf team opened their season yesterday with the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate tournament, hosted by Abilene Christian - nationally ranked No. 11 in the preseason poll - at the Diamondback Country Club. WTAMU finished 12th overall, shooting 299 on day one and 307 on day two for a total of 606. Jon Musser led the Buffaloes with a two-day total of 145, tying for 13th place.

On day one of the 36-hole tournament, WTAMU finished 14th; Musser finished in a tie for fourth place with 69. Geoff Phemister shot a 75, Brandon Holub shot a 77, Tanner White shot a 78 and Roy Holdeman shot an 85.

Day two saw the Buffaloes finish 12th overall with Phemister leading the way with a finish of 74 on the day and a 149 in the tournament (tie for 31st). Musser and Holub both shot 76s and Holub finished with a 153. White shot an 81 and finished with 159 while Holdeman shot a 92 and finished with 177.

The men are slated to play in the Cameron University-Territory Classic hosted by Cameron at the Territory Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
