CANYON, Texas - Led by senior Kent Neal's two under par after the first day of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, the West Texas A&M men's golf team is in sixth place. The Buffs shot a 601 in the Metroplex to finish day one 30 strokes behind Northeastern State, who led with a 571.

From the first 18 of the day to last 18, all five WTAMU golfers cut strokes off of their score to help in the sixth place start. The biggest drop of the day for the Buffs was Spud Dillingham, who shot a plus 11 in the morning, and then moved to just a two over par in the afternoon. Behind Dillingham's drop of score was Geoff Phemister, who shaved five swings off of his score, and ended the day with 21 over par.

Also leading WTAMU was Jon Musser and Roy Holdeman, who both tied with a seven over par. Musser and Holdeman shot a plus four during the first round, and moved their score to a three over par during round two.

The Buffs will finish off LSC Tournament on Tuesday. All results are available on the LSC's website at www.lonestarconference.org.
