WTAMU Golf Teams Host Subway Invitational Beginning Monday
April 2, 2004
The West Texas A&M University golf teams are making final preparations for next week's action as both teams host the Subway Invitational April 4-6. This is the final tournament for the women before the Lone Star Conference Championship, while the men have one tournament remaining April 12-13 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The LSC Championship will be held at Trophy Club, Texas April 19-20.
The Lady Buffs will host a field of 12 schools with all rounds to be played at the Tascosa Country Club. The first round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Monday, with the second and third rounds to be played Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m. All three rounds will be 18 holes.
Junior Meredith Easley leads the way for the Lady Buffs as she was WTAMU's top finisher at last week's Grand Canyon Invitational. This is the seventh time Easley has finished first amoung WTAMU players.
The Buffs will open their tournament beginning at 8 a.m. Monday at the La Paloma Golf Club with two rounds of 18 holes. The final round for the men will tee off at 8 a.m. Tuesday for a single round of 18. The men will be competing against eight other schools.
The Buffs have been a well-rounded team this season as three different players have led the Buffs this year. At last week's UCO/Kickingbird Classic, senior Jimmy Jameson was the third player to become WTAMU's top finisher.
