Men's Golf Team Finishes Sixth At LSC Championships

TROPHY CLUB, Texas -- Junior Joshua Luongo carded the lowest score of the day to earn second-place, and the West Texas A&M University men's golf team finished in sixth-place at the Lone Star Conference Championships, held at Trophy Club Country Club at Trophy Club, Texas.

Luongo shot a four-under 68 Tuesday, to finish with a one-under 215 and earn first-team All-LSC honors by finishing tied for second-place, tying with Heath Myers of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Cameron University's Owen Mahaffey captured individual medalist honors by firing a one-under 71 Tuesday to finish with a four-under 212.
Cameron won the team title, shooting an 876, dethroning two-time defending University of Central Oklahoma, who finished second with an 886, just ahead of third-place Northeastern State University's 887. Southwestern Oklahoma was fourth with an 888, followed by Texas A&M University-Commerce at fifth, shooting an 895, then WTAMU, followed by East Central University in seventh with a 908 and Abilene Christian University finished eighth with a 913.
For WTAMU, behind Luongo, senior Jimmy Jameson carded a 224 to finish tied for 17th, just ahead of fellow senior Josh Duckworth, who tied for 19th with a 225. Freshman James Dillingham shot a 234 to finish tied for 30th and junior Chris Washburn finished 38th.
First-team All-LSC accolades went to the top five finishers, Mahaffey, Myers, Luongo, Pierre Goethals (+1, 217) of Abilene Christian and Cameron's Ryan King (+1, 217).
Second-team All-LSC honors went the next five placers: Brian Hostetler (+2, 218) of Southwestern Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma's Todd Dayton (+2, 218), Northeastern State's Brad Risenhoover (+2, 218) and Eric Moore (+3, 219) of Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma's Donnie Martin (+5, 221), Travis Lovins (+5, 221) from Cameron and Texas A&M-Commerce's Michael Weber (+5, 221).
