Buffs Finish Third In Final Tune-Up For LSC Golf Championships

HINTON, Okla. -- The West Texas A&M University men's golf team finished its final tune-up for the Lone Star Conference Championships by placing third at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Sugar Creek/Prairie West Golf Course at Hinton, Okla.

Individually, senior Jimmy Jameson was WTAMU's top finisher, relinquishing his day one lead and finishing tied for fourth by carding a two-over 215, two strokes behind the individual winner, Owen Mahaffey of Cameron University with an even, 213.

WTAMU finished with a combined 882, 12 strokes behind Cameron, who won the meet with an 870, just ahead of Southern Nazarene University with 876.

Junior Joshua Luongo carded a 219 and finished tied for 13th. Senior Josh Duckworth and freshman teammate James Dillingham tied for 41st with a 226, while junior Chris Washburn finished tied for 47th with a 228.

This was WTAMU's final tune-up before the Lone Star Conference Championships April 19-20, at Trophy Club, Texas.
