Buffs, Duckworth In First-Place After Day One Of WTAMU/Subway Invite

Behind senior Josh Duckworth's pace-setting, the West Texas A&M University men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the first day of action at the WTAMU/Subway Invitational Monday at a chilly and breezy La Paloma Golf Club at Amarillo, Texas.

Duckworth recorded rounds of 69 and 70 to record an overall two-under 139 to lead all players, pacing the Buffs to a 587 combined score, three strokes ahead of second-place Northeastern State University.

Fellow senior Jimmy Jameson was close behind, carding the lowest round of the day with a 67 on the second 18-hole round and is tied for third with an even 142.

Northeastern State's Eric Moore is in second-place with a one-under 141, and Pierre Goethals of Abilene Christian University is tied with Jameson for third.

Junior Joshua Luongo is tied for 18th with a 152, while fellow junior Chris Washburn is tied for 23rd with a 154 and freshman James Dillingham is tied for 36th with a 159.

Play continues Tuesday with a final, 18-hole round. The first group will tee off at approximately 8 a.m. at La Paloma.
