AMARILLO, Texas - Following an opening of gusty winds at La Paloma Golf Club, the West Texas A&M men's golf team trails only Western New Mexico after the first two rounds of the WTAMU Men's Invitational. The Buffs shot 292 in round one followed by 296 in the second round for a team total of 588, just two strokes off of the lead.

Senior Kent Neal (71-69 = 140) leads the field, individually, shooting two-under par for the day. Junior Jon Musser (74-74 = 178) follows for WTAMU in a tie for fifth, while senior Spud Dillingham (75-76 = 151) is tied in the eighth spot with freshman Roy Holdeman (74-77 = 151). Sophomore Jonathan Shelley (78-86 = 164) rounds out the squad for the Buffs in 51st place, while sophomore Geoff Phemister (84-89 = 173) ranks 62nd as an individual.

The final round will be played Tuesday morning at La Paloma Golf Club with the first pair teeing off at 8:32 a.m. and the final duo at 9:52 a.m.
