AUSTIN, Texas -- The West Texas A&M University men's golf team finished 10th at the St. Edward's University Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Circle C Golf Club at Austin, Texas.

WTAMU carded a three-round total of 960 (317-324-319), finishing 10th out of the 15-team field. Lone Star Conference foe Northeastern State University took top team honors with a 901 (306-299-296). Junior newcomer Kent Neal was WTAMU's top individual, carding a combined 236 (80-79-77), tying for 28th-place. Junior Spud Dillingham tied for 41st with a 241 (79-84-78), two strokes ahead of junior teammate Paul Slaughter, who was tied for 47th with a 243 (84-80-79). Senior Thomas Maldonado scroed a 247 (81-81-85), good for a tie for 56th, while freshman Geoff Phemister was tied for 65th with a 252 (77-85-90).

Brian Ward of Northeastern State took individual medalist honors, firing a 1-over 217 (75-72-70).

WTAMU heads to San Diego, Calif., on Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7, to compete in the University of California-San Diego Invitational at Marabella Country Club.

The Buffs will compete in two other tournaments before the WTAMU/Subway Invitational at Amarillo's LaPaloma Golf Club April 3-4, in the final tune-up before the LSC Championships April 17-18.
