Charly Martin

Dec. 11, 2008

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M outside linebacker Jared Brock and wide receiver Charly Martin have been named to the Daktronics Division II Football All-America team.

Brock (6-1, 232, Sr-3L), who was recently named to the AFCA All-America team, led the Buffs with 83 total tackles (43 solo, 40 assist). The Abernathy, Texas, native also had a team-high 14 tackles for minus-72 yards in losses, as well as 6.5 sacks for minus-48 yards, three pass breakups, 10 quarterback hurries, a pair of fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks and one forced fumble.

Earlier this season, Brock was named to the Lone Star Conference South Division first-team, as well as being selected as LSC-South Linebacker of the Year. This is Brock's third Daktronics recognition, as he earned first-team honors in 2006 and was a second-team selection in 2007.

Martin (6-2, 210, Sr-3L), was the top vote-getter at the receiver position. He finished his collegiate career as both the WT and Lone Star Conference single-season and career leader in receptions, TD catches and receiving yards, among others. In 2008, he recorded 95 receptions for 1,867 yards and 22 TDs, with a long reception of 97 yards against Texas A&M-Kingsville. He concluded his career with a record-breaking 14 receptions for 323 yards and five TDs in the Buffs' NCAA Playoff contest at Abilene Christian.

Martin was a second-team Daktronics honoree in 2006 before suffering a mid-season injury in 2007.

In addition to their athletics accomplishments, both Brock and Martin are currently pursuing master's degrees.

This is the 16th year the Daktronics All-America team has been selected by a vote of sports information directors from NCAA Division II football-playing members. The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
