Lee Hays begins his third year as WTAMU's offensive coordinator, and is looking forward to another productive season.

The last two seasons, WTAMU has been one of the most productive offenses in not only the LSC, but also NCAA-II, leading the nation in passing attempts and ranking third in pass completions in 2003. Last year, WTAMU ranked second in the country in passing offense and 18th in the nation in total offense.

Hays has eight years of coaching experience splitting his time between WTAMU and Texas A&M-Kingsville. He began coaching in 1997 after playing his last year with the Javelinas.

He previously coached WT's offense in 1999 before heading back to Kingsville from 1999-2002.

As a player, Hays played defensive end/linebacker at Cisco Junior College for two years, prior to playing at Abilene Christian for one season.

The Del Rio, Texas, native earned his bachelor's degree from TAMU-Kingsville in 1996 and his master's in 2004 from WTAMU.

Hays was in the Marine Corps from 1987-1996, including completing Marine Corps Sniper School.

He and his wife, Roxann, have a 3-year-old daughter, Shan Lee, and are expecting another baby, and reside in Amarillo.
