General: Davis transferred to WTAMU after posting solid numbers as a defensive back at Baylor. 2006: Davis saw action in 11 contests during 2006, registering eight tackles (four solo, four assisted. He also recorded two pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and one blocked kick (returned 56 yards). 2005: Davis sustained a knee injury during the Bears' April 9, 2005, spring scrimmage, underwent surgery to repair a torn right ACL and missed the entire 2005 season and all of the Bears' 2006 spring workouts. 2004: The 2004 Sporting News All-Big 12 freshman team honoree drew five starting assignments in 11 games as a rookie, including starts in each of Baylor's final four contests. Davis' 24 tackles (18 solo, six assisted) ranked 10th on squad. He also had one pass breakup. Davis enjoyed seven multi-tackle efforts in 11 games. He tallied a career-high five tackles (four solos) and his first career interception, which he returned 12 yards, against Texas A&M, had four stops at Nebraska in his first career start and four against No. 2 Oklahoma. He recorded the Big 12's first 2004 defensive two-point conversion and BU's first-ever such score with a 100-yard interception return vs. Iowa State. Davis was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week (Sept. 27) for his blocked punt which he recovered for his first career touchdown vs. North Texas. For the year, he saw action on 565 plays. 2003: Davis was redshirted as a true freshman, but earned a letter as a member of the Bears' indoor and outdoor track teams. High School: Attended Dallas Carter HS. As a senior in 2002, Davis made 66 tackles and tied for team lead with five interceptions. He also had two fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks and two defensive touchdowns as a senior, helping the Cowboys to an 11-1 record and a district title. Offensively, he rushed 30 times for 250 yards and scored four touchdowns in his final prep season. He was awarded third-team 5A all-State honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association and was a Texas Top 300 selection by Texas Football magazine. Davis earned three letters in football and four in track, where he was a member of Carter's 2002 state championship 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams. He placed sixth at the state meet in the 200 meters after claiming district and regional titles and helped Carter to the 2002 state track crown. |
