Former WTAMU Men's Basketball Assistant Hired At Fort Lewis

May 13, 2005

Former West Texas A&M University assistant men's basketball coach, Mark Kellogg, has been hired as the new head women's basketball coach at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.

Kellogg served two seasons as a graduate assistant under head coach Rick Cooper during the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons. The Buffs compiled a 43-14 record during that time and made the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament in 1999, losing to Abilene Christian University in triple overtime, 102-96, at Wichita Falls, Texas.

Most recently, Kellogg has been the assistant women's basketball coach at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, since 2001. The Bobcats won two Big Sky Conference championships and participated in the Women's NIT.

Kellogg graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in 1998, with a degree in communication arts and physical education. He received his master's degree in sports and exercise sciences from WTAMU in 2000.

He was a finalist for the NCAA Division III National Athlete of the Year at Austin College and was first-team All-American Southwest Conference in basketball. Kellogg also competed on the varsity golf team.

The 29-year old Kellogg replaces Greg Bruce, who retired in March. The Skyhawks are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
