Daktronics Names Lolar Second Team All-American
March 21, 2007 CANYON, Texas - The postseason honors continue to roll in for West Texas A&M senior forward Damien Lolar, who this week was named a second team All-American by Daktronics as well as garnering an invitation to participate in the second annual NCAA Division II All-Star game to be held this Friday in Springfield, Mass. Lolar was a force for the Buffs throughout the season, pacing the team and the entire Lone Star Conference with a 23.2 points per game average, while also contributing 8.5 rebounds per outing, on his way to leading the Buffs to a co-LSC South Division regular season championship. The Arkansas City, Kan., native contributed 10 double-doubles on the year on his way to writing his name in the WTAMU annuals by joining the elite list of 1,000 point scorers in Buff basketball history, doing so in only two seasons, to finish his career ranked seventh all-time with 1,175 career points. Among the many accolades bestowed upon Lolar this season were LSC South Player of the Year and Daktronics co-Regional Player of the Year honors. In addition to the All-America recognition, Lolar has been selected to participate in the Second Annual NCAA Division II All-Star Game, which will be held at the Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., on March 23. The All-Star Game will match an East All-Star Team (with 10 student-athletes from the NCAA East, Northeast, South and South Atlantic regions) against a West All-Star Team (with 10 student-athletes from the NCAA Great Lakes, North Central, South Central and West regions). Lolar will represent the West All-Star team along with the LSC North's and fellow co-Regional Player of the Year, Eric Babers, of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
