CANYON, Texas - Despite a promising start and an inspired effort, the West Texas A&M men's basketball team dropped a 90-84 decision to visiting Lone Star Conference crossover opponent Cameron on Thursday night at the First United Bank Center.

With the loss, the Buffs fall to 2-4 on the season, while Cameron improves to 3-1.

The first half saw the Buffs come out with a lot of intensity, building an early 11-0 lead to force a timeout by Cameron. Senior Damien Lolar continued his streak of hot play collecting his third double-double of the season in only one half of play, contributing 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Buffs weathered a Cameron run and took a 50-37 lead into halftime, giving the team the most points that is has scored in a single half this season.

Junior Chris Hinz also contributed in WTAMU's impressive start to the contest, setting a season-high with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the first half. The Amarillo, Texas, native finished the game with 19 points.

In the second half, the Buffs could not maintain the intensity as the Aggies were able to muster up a scrappy effort and frustrate the WTAMU offense, outscoring the Buffs 53-34 in the period.

Cameron was able to take its first lead of the game on a long distance shot from Curtis Ison, Jr. The Aggies were able to achieve the come-from-behind effort behind some hot shooting from beyond the arch, scoring on 7-of-10 attempts from three point range in the second period.

The West Texas A&M men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday as the team wraps up a Lone Star Conference crossover doubleheader with the Lady Buffs, with a 8 p.m. contest hosting Southwestern Oklahoma State.
