CANYON, Texas - A layup with 15:55 remaining in the game by junior Chris Hinz was the last time the West Texas A&M men's basketball team had the lead Friday night against Adams State. As the Buffaloes fell to the Grizzlies 69-62 in the Holiday Inn/Coca Cola Classic.

In the first half, WTAMU and ASC tied the game up five times, with neither team holding on to a lead larger than six. The Buff had a six point lead with 6:53 remaining in the first half when junior Moshn Said knocked in a jumper, which was the largest lead of the night for WTAMU.

At the break, WTAMU shot 40 percent from the field, while ASC was 50 percent shooing 14-of-28. Both squads had seven turnovers, while the Buffs had the slight edge in rebounds 17-16.

In the second half after WTAMU grabbed its last lead of the night, Adams State went on a 9-3 run to help in its first win of the season. The Buffs got the lead to down to three, but another run by Grizzlies got their up to double digits with 4:31 remaining in the game.

WTAMU was led by senior Damien Lolar, who scored a game-high 22 points and was followed up by classmate Kevin Green, who chipped in with 11. Lolar also led the team with eight rebounds, while junior Goran Stanic pulled down seven rebounds.

With the loss, WTAMU falls to 0-3 on the young season, while Adams State improves to 1-2. The Buffs will play Ouachita Baptist tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the First United Bank Center.
