CANYON, Texas - Riding a season-high 13 team three point baskets, the West Texas A&M men's basketball team defeated border rival Eastern New Mexico, 91-79, in a Lone Star Conference South Division match up at the First United Bank Center.

WTAMU was led in scoring by senior Damien Lolar, who contributed 27 points in the Buffs' winning effort that improved their overall mark this season to 13-8 and their conference record to 5-2. ENMU, meanwhile, falls to 9-12 overall and 3-4 in league action.

The Buffs got off to a hot start in the contest, racing to a 7-2 lead after the opening tip-off. Senior Kevin "Chip" Green connected on a three-pointer during the run to contribute five points to WTAMU's early advantage.

Lolar was also big during the first half, as the Arkansas City, Kan., native was active on both ends of the floor posting 10 points, five rebounds and two blocks during the game's opening period.

Mohsn Said provided the Buffs with even more momentum heading into halftime as the junior from Oakland, Calif., drained his second three point field goal of the half as time expired on the clock. During the first half, the Buffs shot a sizzling 63.3 (19-of-30) percent from the field, including an 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) mark from long distance.

During the second half, the Buffs continued their hot shooting from beyond the three point arc, connecting on 5-of-10 shots, including two more from Green, who finished with 12 points on the night.

Lolar and Green highlighted six Buff players in double-figures on the night, as Said contributed 15 points, Tyler Cooper added 14, Pierre Barlow 11 and Chris Hinz 10. WTAMU outrebounded the Greyhounds 44-34 in the contest.

The Buffs are back in action on Thursday when West Texas A&M hosts LSC South foe Texas A&M-Kingsville in a men's and women's basketball doubleheader at the First United Bank Center. Tip-off for the men's contest is slated for 8 p.m.
