Greyhounds Take Game Three From WT, 11-10
April 26, 2009 PORTALES, New Mexico - The Buffs of West Texas A&M took a five run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Field, but the Hounds of Eastern New Mexico wouldn't be denied as they plated six runs to take the game three victory, 11-10. The win sends ENMU to the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time in the school's history. "That was a hard one to lose" said WT head coach Matt Vanderburg "Give credit to Eastern, their hitters were on a mission in that last inning and they wouldn't quit until they won the ballgame." Eastern plated five runs in the first two innings of play before WT started off their scoring in the top of the third inning, as they plated seven runs on six hits. The inning was highlighted by a Joe Inzone (JR, Spring Valley, California) two RBI double to score teammates Brad Elders (SO, Amarillo, Texas) and Kevin Els (SR, Cypress, Texas). Eastern stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and plated six runs on six hits to go along with one WT fielding error. Hound's first baseman Seth Clabaugh singled home teammate Jeremy Johnsin with two outs to give ENMU the win, 11-10. Coty Wilson (SR, China Spring, Texas) picked up the loss on the mound (0-1) for the Buffs, giving up three runs on four hits in relief work of WT starter Adam Kramer (SR, Albuquerque, NM).
