Buffs Battle For Win In Game One Against Tarleton State

The West Texas A&M University baseball team fought hard to win the first game in their Lone Star Conference series with Tarleton State University at Potter County Memorial Stadium in Amarillo. The Buffs had a lead early, but had to come from behind down the stretch to win, 12-10.
WTAMU advances to 21-25 on the season and 6-7 in LSC-S Division action. TSU drops to 13-30 on the year and 5-8 in LSC-S play.
Junior leadoff man Cody Dean went 3-5 with three runs scored. Junior outfielder A.J. Knight also went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Brady Ribinskas smacked his sixth home run of the year with a two-run shot in the third inning, going 1-4.
Sophomore Cody Sessions started the game for the Buffs but got the no decision. He pitched well, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing seven earned runs on nine hits. He struck out four batters and walked three. Senior Brandon Wright came in relief in the sixth, allowing only two Texan hits in the final 3 1/3 innings. Wright moves to 4-2 on the season.
Game two will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. at Potter County Memorial Stadium.
