PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Wayland Baptist Pioneers used 17 hits on Tuesday afternoon to top the Buffs of West Texas A&M, 12-3, in front of 927 fans at Wilder Field in Plainview. The loss drops the Buffs to 19-27 overall. Wayland sweeps the series against WT, as the Pioneers took the team's first game, 4-3, on Feb. 24 at the Dilla Villa.

The Pioneers bats struck early and often as WBU took a 9-0 lead into the top half of the fifth inning. The Buffs plated one run in the fifth, as Christian Figueroa (SR, Juncos, Puerto Rico) singled home teammate Jake Parsons (JR, Amarillo, Texas).

Will McLaughlin (SR, Crowley, Texas) homered to left field in the sixth inning to plate Rob Mann (JR, Duncanville, Texas), scoring the Buffs final two runs of the ballgame. The Pioneers added three more runs in the home half of the eighth to take the game, 12-3.

Billy Zeleznak (JR, Grapevine, Texas) picked up the loss on the mound (0-2) for the Buffs, giving up three runs on three hits in 0.2 innings of work.

The Buffs return to action this weekend, as they travel to Talequah, Oklahoma to face Northeastern State in a four game Lone Star Conference series. First pitch of a doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
